Ceramics & Sculpture
What's it all about?
Students are introduced to the fundamentals of hand building ceramic construction and various sculptural techniques. They create sculptural and functional forms using different artforms and processes. Investigation and exploration of ideas, skills and techniques are taught, as well as a range of processes relating to elements and principles of Art. Students develop skills in evaluating the work of Ceramic and Sculptural artists. They are encouraged to develop personal creativity, by using mixed three-dimensional methods, materials and techniques. Students investigate and explore ideas, skills and techniques to create original works.
What type of things will I do?
A range of both sculptural and functional forms are designed and created. Students observe, research and critically discuss contemporary, historical and cultural examples of ceramic works.
What will I learn?
Hand building techniques of coil, pinch, mould and slab construction.
