Course Description
This course is designed to prepare individuals for a range of entry-level Christian ministry roles. It is also designed to equip employees in Christian organisations and not-for-profit or service contexts with an understanding of the beliefs and values that guide Christian education, health, social services, childcare or aged care so that they are able to work effectively in these sectors. Workers in these contexts are required to align their work with the vision, values and expected practices of the organisation and to operate within an ethical and moral framework. This course is delivered by Youth Dimension on behalf of Eastern College Australia.
Career Pathways
The course will provide participants with : basic knowledge of core Christian beliefs and practices; an understanding of the relevance and application of these beliefs and practices to a specific context; skills to interpret, apply and communicate Christian beliefs and practices at an introductory level; opportunities for personal ethical formation; and foundational skills for work or further vocational training in Christian Ministry. Further studies in Theology and Ministry could leave to employement opportunities in ministry and community services.
Program Requirements
Program Requirements: A laptop is required to access course materials and complete coursework and assessments. A good study bible. The recommended bible is the NLT Illustrated Study Bible (IBSN: 1496402006, which is availiable from Koorong Bookstore and Word Bookstore. Mandatory attendance at two camps: an Outreach Training Camp and a Leadership Training Camp, both held from Friday afternoon through to Sunday afternoon. Participation in a Community Day full day excursion. Dates for the camps and excursion will be provided at the beginning of the year in the Gravitate Welcome Pack. Students are required to find a Ministry Experience Supervisor within their chosen context prior to commencing their Ministry Experience. Supervisors must register with Youth Dimension and agree to their Child Safe Code of Conduct.
