Course Description

This course equips you with the foundation knowledge and skills required for a career in the hairdressing industry and is designed to enhance your opportunities for a hairdressing apprenticeship. The program provides basic training in key areas in order to provide assistance to other team members and perform a range of duties under supervision including a limited range of hairdressing tasks, customer service, and developing hairdressing.

Career Pathways

Upon successful completion of this qualification, you can receive a guaranteed place into a range of hair, beauty therapy or makeup courses at The Gordon. This program also has a direct pathway into a hairdressing apprenticeship and upon successful completion you may receive credit towards an apprenticeship qualification.

Contribution to VCE

On completion of the Certificate II in Salon Assistant students will receive recognition of up to two units at Units 1 and 2 level. 


Contribution to VCE VM is determined by the number of units successfully completed. When a student has been assessed as competent in units totalling 100 nominal hours, this will contribute one VCE VM unit towards satisfactory completion of VCE VM.
