Minimum of 10 days’ work placement spread over two years is strongly recommended within this program. Work placement may occur during the term holidays.

Course Description

This course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills to achieve units of competence that will enhance their employment prospects in the furnishing industry.

Career Pathways

This program will prepare students for work in the furnishing, cabinet making and joinery industries.

Students will have the skills and knowledge required to work in a production environment in both manufacturing of free- standing furniture or built-in cabinets, and provide on-site assistance in the installation of those items.

Successful completion of the Certificate II in Furniture Making will enable a student to enter a cabinet making or joinery apprenticeship with advanced standing.

Program Requirements

Holiday Training (may be subject to change) Holiday training will be arranged for all students to attend.

Contribution to VCE

ATAR

Scored assessment.

Contribution to VCE VM is determined by the number of units successfully completed. When a student has been assessed as competent in units totalling 100 nominal hours, this will contribute one VCE VM unit towards satisfactory completion of VCE VM.

NB: These credits must be confirmed with the VET Coordinator at your school.
