Structured Workplace Learning (SWL)

Strongly Recommended.

A minimum of 10 days’ work placement spread over two years is strongly recommended within this program. Work placement may occur during the term holidays.

Course Description

The Certificate II in Electrotechnology aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills to achieve units of competence that will enhance their employment prospects in the electrical industry. It also provides students with increased opportunities of gaining an electrical apprenticeship. The program also provides experiences across a number of electrical trades including electrical, electronics, refrigeration and mechanical engineering.

Career Pathways

The program will prepare students for entry-level employment in the electrical industry and enhance their opportunity of gaining an electrical apprenticeship. The Certificate II qualification has a clear relationship with further training in the electrical/electronic industry. It is anticipated that students progressing to an apprenticeship may receive credits towards their off- the-job training in the apprenticeship.

Program Requirements

This course includes the delivery of First Aid & Construction Induction (White Card). If you already have completed these units previously it is a great benefit! You MUST email vetinschools@gordontafe.edu.au your USI Transcript or Statement of Attainment prior to starting the course.

Holiday Training (may be subject to change)

Holiday training may be expected for this course and will be confirmed at a later date.

Additional Costs: Protective clothing and minor equipment may also need to be purchased.

Contribution to VCE

Not scored assessment.

Contribution to VCE

Students who complete the Certificate II in Electrotechnology will receive up to three units at unit 1-2 level and a unit 3-4 sequence. NB: These credits must be confirmed with the VET Coordinator at your school.

Contribution to VCE VM is determined by the number of units successfully completed. When a student has been assessed as competent in units totalling 100 nominal hours, this will contribute one VCE VM unit towards satisfactory completion of VCE VM.
