VCAA strongly recommends a minimum of 80 hrs (2 weeks) of structured workplace learning over the duration of the VCE VET program.

Course Description

Certificate II is regarded as an entry level course. Graduates will have skills and knowledge to become a valued and productive employee within the Amenity Horticulture Industry. Graduates assist with planting and maintaining lawns, shrubs and garden beds in public or private gardens and parks. Upon successful completion of the Certificate II in Horticulture students may choose to complete an apprenticeship or traineeship in Land Conservation and Management type roles.

Program Requirements

The attire required for students are:

  • Closed (safety) non-leather footwear - possible

  • Long sleeve – high visibility shirt (preferably not yellow, and bees and bugs get attracted to it), and helmets for side-by-side driving

  • Long Tradies Pants

  • Disposable Coveralls will be provided

  • Gardening glove and will provide disposable nitrile glove when handlings other materials.

  • Hat (summer months and when outside)

  • Safety Googles (it will be provided)

  • Thermals (during winter).
