Course Description
This program aims to provide basic industry
skills and knowledge specific to the carpentry
industry and can contribute to gaining an
apprenticeship in the building and construction
industries (Certificate III level).
Career Pathways
The immediate pathway and career opportunity is into a full-time apprenticeship in carpentry. You may receive training credits which reduces the off-the-job training requirement. Other career paths within the construction industry include building site maintenance, foremanship, building administration, estimation, building inspection, drafting (architectural) and electronic.

Additional Costs: Protective clothing and minor equipment may also need to be purchased.
Program Requirements: This course includes the delivery of First Aid & Construction Induction (White Card).
Equipment: Personal protective clothing and equipment to
be supplied by student:
Overalls or workpants with rule pocket, Safety
boots, PPE – earplugs, face mask for dust
protection, safety glasses.
Equipment and books to be supplied by
student: 1 metre folding ruler and 8 metre tape,
calculator, A4 ring binder, ballpoint pen and
notebook, pencils carpenter’s and 2H and HB,
set square 45º x 200mm (Staedler 56732-45),
scale rule (Kent M62), nail punch, set of drill
bits (up to 6mm) / Countersink bit (for timber)
/ Pozidrive bit (no. 2)
