Course Description
This program provides training and skill development for the achievement of competencies in areas such as occupational health and safety, animal care, veterinary clinic duties, handling of animals and communication skills.
Career Pathways
Successful completion of this program will provide participants with access to a range of entry-level employment opportunities in veterinary clinics, animal shelters, pet shops, companion animal services, or animal training services. This course is also the preferred prerequisite to continue study in ACM30110 Certificate III in Animal Studies.
Major areas of study include:
• Working in the animal care industry
• Assisting with general care of animals
• First aid for animals.

Contribution to VCE VM is determined by the number of units successfully completed. When a student has been assessed as competent in units totalling 100 nominal hours, this will contribute one VCE VM unit towards satisfactory completion of VCE VM.
Contribution to VCE:
On completion of the Certificate II in Animal Studies students will receive recognition of up to two units at Units 1 and 2 level and a Units 3 and 4 sequence. An ATAR increment for unscored VCE VET programs will be calculated using 10% of the lowest study score of the primary four.
NB: These credits must be confirmed with the VET Coordinator at your school.
