Course Description
Certificate I in Transition Education is intended to support learners with permanent intellectual disabilities to develop the skills to find the most appropriate option for them in the community after leaving school. This may include employment, volunteer work or further study. The certificate includes the development of employability skills including communication, problem- solving, self-management and use of technology.
Students are supported to develop strategies to identify information and resources about everyday activities such as travel, health and participation in recreational activities, develop independent living skills and participate in activities in the community.
Career Pathways
Students who complete this partial program at school may choose to attend The Gordon TAFE post school to complete the Certificate I in Transition Education.
Students’ goals may also include transitioning to volunteer work or entry-level employment.
